Morgan Spurlock’s One Direction: This Is Us is an up-close glimpse at the popular British boy band One Direction. New York Times says the movie’s “enhanced, real-life surround sound can be alternately terrifying and a little thrilling.” But, it is both “charming but boring,” said CNN. Critics at The Guardian call it “the rock revolution reduced to the level of the Eurovision Song Contest.”

Fans from all around the world are lining up to watch this flick about their favorite boy band. This Is Us was expected to gross over $22 million in US box offices alone over Labor Day weekend. On Thursday, August 30, the night this movie was released, it grossed nearly $2.7 million.

From young girls to older women, fans have been waiting for this movie since rumors of its production. Its exclusive behind the scenes clips and surround sound music have these fangirls running to movie theaters. Much of the money made off this movie is due to repeated viewings by crazed fans.

This flick takes a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik. It has been called a “captivating and intimate all-access look at this quintet’s life. After seeing This Is Us, fans say they feel closer with the band and know them better. “The movie showed me that they are really just normal, crazy, sometimes immature, nice guys,” said a writer for the Huffington Post.

One Direction: This Is Us has already shown itself to be a major success. After only five days, the $10 million movie grossed $22 million. In general, critics have good things to say about the movie and give it an average of four out of five stars, according to numerous reviews on Google. Now the rumors are asking what awards this movie will receive. We’ll have to wait and find out!
