Mayeesha Galiba, a sophomore, interviews and photographs bands when they have concerts locally. Energetic and passionate, she contacts different bands and their managers to get photo passes and/or access to backstage.
Working hard, she emails managers and pushes them to allow her to take photos, which is what she mainly does. In order to be allowed to photograph, she has to talk to the right people and have the right backing.
Galiba is very modest about her work and claims that she “doesn’t do much.” She wants to build up her own portfolio and intern for an online magazine that covers these types of shows. She said she’s always listened to music, but Allstar Weekend, a band, really caught her interest.
Mayeesha has interviewed Allstar Weekend and Parachute, another band. The Parachute interview took place at the All-American Rejects, Boys Like Girls, and Parachute show. At that show, she obtained a photo pass as well.
On a side note, she helped cater at the San Francisco date of Warped Tour, a huge traveling music festival. In the future, she will probably have an email interview with a smaller band, Neighborhood Kids.
